RAN RUWAN is a Sri Lankan company an entirely eco-friendly organization, has been in the stones and sand crafts sector for 31 years, employs no child labour, maintains a pleasant working environment and provides an avenue of employment to poor but talented craftsmen.

Its indigenous and innovative technology has secured recognition in the form of a patent for its original technology, Presidential Innovative Financial Award (1999), National Science and Technology Award (2006) for the technology contribution for the value addition to the local mineral resources and Award of Excellence for Best Architectural Product (2007) from Sri Lanka Institute of Architects.

The designs employ crushed minerals, mineral sands and semi-precious stones entirely in their original form. They will therefore not change or fade with time. The appearance and quality is based entirely on the inherent optical properties of the minerals employed.

Each item manufactured at RAN RUWAN has its own story from preparation of crushed minerals to the final product. All the products are hand crafted INDIVIDUALLY from making of the basic shapes to decoration using crushed minerals. Preparation of crushed minerals from hand driven tools, selecting colours are the things takes place before all. Each product when it reached the decoration stage one person involved in start to the end throwing the skills at work sticking sand in to the surface of the product carefully to create a fantastic design.
